Council Chairmen in Ekiti State on Tuesday showered encomium on Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his mind-blowing achievements in restoring electricity to Ekiti East after 13 years in darkness.
The chairmen of Ekiti East local government and Ekiti Southeast local council development area, Hon. Samuel Oluwasegun and Hon. Anthonia Alaba respectively, paid glowing tributes to the governor during the interactive S’etigbo multicast anchored by the Bureau of Community Communications.
Describing Governor Oyebanji as a jinx breaker, the council chairmen said that the governor’s commitment to matching words with actions across the various local governments is unprecedented and transformative.
According to the Ekiti East council boss, the governor has fulfilled and is still building on his campaign promises adding that his people-centered policies at the grassroots level are been felt, especially on youths and women.

He explained further that: “There was a time many fled Ekiti East because of darkness. A child born there 13 years ago could grow up without ever seeing electricity. Many even blamed it on spiritual forces. Governor Oyebanji broke that jinx within his first 100 days in office, restoring power where others failed. Recently, he again approved funds for more transformers to extend electricity to underserved communities in the area.
“Every health centre in Ekiti East has now felt government’s touch. Many have been renovated, others furnished with world-class medical facilities, taking quality healthcare closer to the people.
“Agriculture in Ekiti East has been given a new life under this government. From empowerment for local farmers to access to improved seedlings, mechanized tools, and markets, farming has regained its pride as a reliable source of livelihood.
“Roads that once made life miserable are now smooth passages. The Ara–Ikole–Isinbode stretch is wearing a new look, while the Eda Ile–Omuo road has already been approved for full rehabilitation by Governor Oyebanji.”
In the same vein, the Ekiti Southeast LCDA boss noted that the people of the area are feeling the impacts of the governor through his developmental milestones across the state.

She emphasized that before grassroots projects are carried out, council chairmen copy the Governor’s governance style by first conducting needs assessments aimed at ensuring that interventions address the real and peculiar needs of the people.
According to her, “In Ekiti East today, BAO doesn’t need to campaign. It is the people themselves who are loudly saying he should continue because they are directly feeling the results of his governance.”
