Be Security Conscious, Council Chairmen Charge Ekiti Residents

…EKSG to hold Ekiti Trade Fair 2025

Local government chairmen in Ekiti state, on Tuesday, urged residents of the state to be security conscious, saying security is the paramount business of everyone.

The Chairman, Moba Local Government, Bamidele Fadugba and Ero Local Council Development Area (LCDA), counterpart, Felicia Ibiloye, stated this during the interactive S’etigbo multicast, anchored by the Bureau of Community Communications.

Fadugba reassured residents of Moba of his administration’s commitment to prioritize their safety urging them to always collaborate with the relevant security agencies by providing useful security tips.

He said: “I am using this opportunity to tell Moba residents to be rest assured that their safety is paramount to us. They have to be security conscious and not take security for granted. Whenever they have information that will be useful to the security agencies, they should try to release it.”

Highlighting the achievements of his administration to complement the efforts of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, he noted that the governor’s remarkable impact at the grassroots cut across all sectors of the economy including infrastructure, security, agricultural development, and others.

“In our own capacity, we are trying to make sure that our people living in Moba local government enjoy dividends of democracy by creating wealth for them, we also make sure that we represent them well. We also make sure all their requests are being attended to in terms of extension of electricity, grading of the road, provision of boreholes, attending to financial assistance, prioritizing their healthcare.

“We also have cordial relationships with the stakeholders especially the traditional rulers and market women. The welfare of staff in the local government is paramount to us. We made sure that their working environment is conducive.”

On her part, Ero LCDA council boss emphasised that her administration is reciprocating Governor Oyebanji’s giant strides by prioritising the delivery of democracy dividends to Ero residents.

Ibiloye assured that her administration would continue to sustain the efforts in maintaining peace along the Ekiti–Kwara border through continued stakeholders engagement and the local government in general.

While attributing her achievements at the council to the financial independence granted under the Oyebanji administration, she highlighted her achievements to include; channelisation projects to control erosion, installation of an 800KVA/800W solar system, culvert construction, among others.

In a separate development, the Technical Advisor to the Governor on Entrepreneurship Development, Abimbola Oni, who featured in the program, spoke on the forthcoming Ekiti Trade Fair 2025.

Oni stated that the trade fair would provide opportunities to entrepreneurs, business owners, and artisans, particularly those at the grassroots to showcase their products to a wide range of consumers.

Her words: “The governor has a caring heart for his people and that is why he has been supporting this trade fair since last year. The essence is to bring people that will sell things for the masses at a very cheap and controlled price.

“We are partnering with ALGON for this trade fair because from different local governments we have something that is peculiar. They are bringing everything so that people can buy from them at a very reduced price.”
