Continuity Has Brought Ekiti Peace, Progress and Prosperity – Yomi Oso

Former State Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Yomi Oso, has called on Ekiti people to sustain the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) beyond 2026, describing continuity as the foundation of the peace, stability, and development currently experienced across the state.

Featuring on Ṣe O Mọ BAO Dáadáa, a popular political programme on Voice FM, Ado Ekiti, Oso said Governor Oyebanji’s performance in less than three years has earned him the title “Baba Ọ̀nà”, because of his massive investment in road infrastructure statewide.

According to him, over 40 major roads have been constructed or rehabilitated under the present administration, with several others ongoing across communities.

He noted that the governor has successfully decongested Ado-Ekiti metropolis through the construction of the Ring Road and the Flyover, while also opening up alternative routes to ensure free flow of traffic and ease of movement within the capital city.

“Governor Oyebanji deserves the name Baba Ọ̀nà because of what he has done on our roads. From the Ring Road to the Flyover and other link routes, he has transformed the face of Ado-Ekiti and made mobility much easier for everyone,” Oso said.

He commended the governor’s compassion and commitment to the welfare of workers and retirees, revealing that over ₦40 billion has been spent to clear backlogs of gratuities while ensuring that pensioners are paid regularly.

“Taking care of our retirees shows the governor’s heart for the people. He has spent more than ₦40 billion settling gratuities and continues to pay pensions as and when due. That is why all former governors, irrespective of party affiliation, are solidly behind him to continue,” Oso stated.

The APC stalwart further highlighted the administration’s achievement in the area of security, noting that Ekiti is now adjudged the safest state in Nigeria under Governor Oyebanji’s leadership.

“Criminal activities have been reduced to the barest minimum. Kidnapping, which used to be a major concern in Ekiti, has become a thing of the past. People now go about their businesses freely, day and night,” he said.

Oso also applauded the government’s focus on sustainable energy through the Independent Power Project (IPP), which he described as a bold step towards industrial growth and economic independence.

“Continuity is the key to lasting development. Look at Lagos; since 1999, they’ve maintained continuity, and that’s why they continue to grow. Ekiti must sustain the same momentum under BAO to secure a greater future,” he said.
