EKITI LOCAL CONTENT LAW WILL BOOST ECONOMY, SAYS DG COMMUNITY COMMUNICATIONS.

The Director-General of Community Communications, Ekiti State, Mrs Mary Oso-Omotoso says the Ekiti state local content law will boost the state’s economy by promoting the use of local resources.

According to her,, Governor Oyebanji had assented to the Ekiti State Local Content Law (First Amendment) in April 2024, which is currently being implemented.

Mrs Mary Oso-Omotoso stated this during a tour with the DG Bureau of local content, Hon. Lekan Ijidale to some constructions site in Ekiti State to ensure the enforcement of the law.

She noted that the law stipulates that 40% of people from Ekiti should be employed by contractors executing state government projects.

The DG explained that there has been a series of engagements with the contractors to sensitize and enlighten them on the law.

The Community Communications boss who commended the governor for the development said this would Creates jobs and business opportunities for residents, Supports local businesses and Improve the state’s self-sufficiency.

“During his electioneering campaign in 2022, Governor Oyebanji assured Ekiti people of curbing capital flight in Ekiti State as a way of improving the state’s economy.

” After assuming office, Mr Governor walked his talks by creating the Bureau of Local Content and appointed a Director General, Hon. Ijidale Lekan. Mr. Governor went further to assent to the Ekiti State Local Content Law 2024 (first amendment) and instructed its implementation afterward.

“This development only shows the strong determination of Governor Oyebanji in boosting Ekiti economy and ensure shared prosperity as well as poverty alleviation amongst Ekiti people.

She however urged the people of Ekiti to support the governor efforts in developing the state and make it stand out among its counterparts.
