It was an atmosphere of joy and happiness as Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, once again demonstrated his commitment to improving the living conditions of Ekiti people with the distribution of electricity transformer to Oke Oniyo community in Ado-Ekiti Central Local Council Development Area.
During a brief handover ceremony of the 500kva transformer at Oke Oniyo community, on Wednesday, Technical Advisor on Power Infrastructure, Engr. Philip Atere said the distribution of the transformer is in continuation of Governor Oyebanji’s giant strides in restoring electricity supply and reviving the local economy.

Atere, represented by the General Manager, Ekiti State Electricity Board, Engr. Taiwo Abegunde, noted that the swift intervention of the governor will address critical infrastructure needs of the community, stressing that the governor is committed to the growth and development of Ekiti communities.
The Technical Advisor urged them to actively participate in the collective development of the state by taking ownership of the transformer to avoid vandalisation for the overall community development.
Responding, Chairman of Oke Oniyo community, Engr. Adewale Olutoye commended the governor for addressing the pressing needs of the community and assured that the people will vote massively for his re-election in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

His words: “We are really grateful to the governor for providing us this transformer because for the past two or three years, we have been in darkness and we have tried all our possible best to buy a transformer but we couldn’t make it.
“We promise that all our votes will be for the governor in the forthcoming election. This transformer will be beneficial to everyone in the area and we are going to hire security men to secure the transformer day and night.”
A landlord in the community and Director in the Ministry of Education, Adaraoluremi Rufus, who appreciated the governor for the intervention, said that it represents his renewed commitment to community development and economic growth.

He noted that with the installation of the new transformer, residents of Oke Oniyo will anticipate a gradual return of businesses and other economic activities, stressing that the absence of electricity had disrupted commercial activities within the community.
The event had in attendance the team from the Bureau of Community Communications, members of the Ekiti State Electricity Board and excited residents of Oke Oniyo, who turned up in their numbers chanting and praying for the re-election of Governor Oyebanji.
