Oyebanji has entrenched full local govt autonomy in Ekiti, says NULGE President

President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ekiti State Chapter, Oluseyi Babatunde, on Tuesday, declared that Governor Biodun Oyebanji has entrenched full implementation of local government autonomy in the state.

The NULGE President stated this during the interactive S’etigbo multicast, anchored by the Bureau of Community Communications.

According to him, Governor Oyebanji’s administration has entrenched a strong and effective local government system in the state which he noted has strengthened governance at the grassroots level, enhanced capacity building, improved service delivery and infrastructure development.

His words: “Local government administration in Ekiti State is fantastic and if we compare it with the administration of local government in other states, Ekiti own is supersonic, wonderful because the governor, since the inception of his administration has entrenched full autonomy in the local government administration.

“Local government system in Ekiti State is one of the best in Nigeria because in terms of personnel, administration and every other thing that is needed for the smooth running for the local government.”

The NULGE President equally noted that the Oyebanji’s administration has repositioned the local government system in the state, strengthened its efficiency and restored confidence in local government administration.

“In fairness, the governor has been wonderful. It’s not as if we don’t have challenges but the governor has settled the bulk of the problem in the local government service in Ekiti State. All the little things that are needed, the governor is doing it.”

He highlighted various achievements of the governor in the local government, including payment of leave bonus arrears, payment of N70,000 minimum wage, construction of ultra-modern office complex, payment of five months salary arrears, regular payment of deductions, payment of seven months arrears of gratuity, and appointment of Local Government Officers as Permanent Secretaries, among others.
