Oyebanji Lauds Community Leaders’ Over Contributions to Socio-Economic Development in Ekiti

…extends christmas packages to Ekiti communities

Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed profound appreciation for the positive contributions made by community leaders to the socio-economic development of the state.

The governor spoke over the weekend in Ado-Ekiti, through the Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Omotosho, during the End-of-Year Grassroots Engagement program with representatives of 141 communities known as the Community Engagement Committee (CEC) of the bureau.

Governor Oyebanji described the community leaders as drivers of socio-economic development in communities across the state noting that the initiative is geared towards ensuring that every individual in the state, particularly at the grassroots level are given a sense of belonging in his administration.

He said: “The message is to reach out to communities across Ekiti State with Christmas package which he has provided. He does this every year and this year, the package is more bigger and presentable than what we used to have.

“It is to give a sense of belonging to the communities and to let them know that he is truly seeing them and he is truly hearing them just as he has promised in 2022 when he was seeking their votes and the people are happy for it.”

The CEC of the bureau, a grassroots structure created to ensure effective reach, transparency, and inclusiveness at the community level, received empowerment packages including food items and cash gifts from the governor for Christmas and New Year celebrations.

In an interview with newsmen, some of the beneficiaries praised the
the governor’s inclusive end-of-year engagements and empowerment packages for the yuletide celebrations describing it as one of its kind in the history of the state.

The Dean, Body of Education Secretaries in the State, Omotosho Oluwatoyin expressed appreciation to the governor for sustaining the initiative since his assumption of office and urged him not to relent in his efforts in reaching out to people at the grassroots level.

On her part, Comrade Ajisafe Arinola, who represented the Directors of Community and Social Development in the local government, commended Governor Oyebanji for prioritising the welfare of the people across Ekiti communities saying that the laudable initiative will bring succour to the beneficiaries.
