In an interview, Director General of the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority, Olasunkanmi Onipede said he was overwhelmed by the endorsement of the governor from his colleagues.

The DG emphasized that the endorsement is a testament to the governor’s commitment to the welfare of the Street Sweepers’ through the recent salary increase.
His words: “I am overwhelmed with what my colleagues, the Sweepers are doing. Our assignment is to ensure that the state is clean. They didn’t give me any notice but they choosed to come and appreciate the governor for what he has done for them.
“The governor has graciously approved their salary from 12,000 to 35,000 which is highly unprecedented. They are extremely happy and grateful to God and Governor Oyebanji for what he has done for them. It is written all over their faces and they have shown it through their actions.”

He charged the Sweepers to justify the actions of the governor by effectively discharging their duties towards a clean and healthier Ekiti.
“The governor has done his part for this agency by increasing salaries and provision of trucks. My charge to my people is to pay the governor back by doing our job effectively and ensuring that the entire Ekiti is clean.”
Earlier, General Supervisor of Street Sweepers’ in Ekiti State, Joseph Olufemi showered encomium on the governor for extending his developmental strides to the Sweepers through the salary increase.
While declaring their total support for the re-election of Governor Oyebanji, he expressed hope and enthusiasm that this is a testament to more dividends of democracy.

He said: “We are really grateful for what Governor Oyebanji has done for us. This kind of thing has never happened before. Previous governments have not been doing it. Nobody has been listening to the plight of the Sweepers but Oyebanji is a loving governor.
“He is a governor that has heart for the people. He is the first governor that increased their salary from 6,500 to 12,000 and from 12,000 to 35,000. It’s a very good thing and that shows that the best is yet to come. We love him and we really pray for him. We are solidly behind him so that the good works will continue.”
