TAJ Foundation Commends Oyebanji Over Igirigiri Road Reconstruction

The founder of Tokunbo Ajila Jakande Children Foundation, Tokunbo Ajila-Jakande has commended the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji for reconstructing the ongoing Igirigiri/Ita Eku road in Ado-Ekiti local government.

The renowned kind-hearted humble personality stated this on Tuesday when she hosted an appreciation gathering at her residence with residents of the communities in attendance.

She showered encomium on the governor for fulfilling his campaign promises to reconstruct the road which also serves as the road leading to her foundation, Ado LGA secretariat and the only alternative route leading to the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti.

According to her, “It’s just to thank the governor for keeping to his promise. Before he even contested, when he was still the Secretary to the State Government, I went to him and told him about this road and he told me the road will done and thank God the road was done. It’s just to appreciate the governor for keeping to his promise.

“People were finding it difficult to come here but with the new road, there will be a lot of new openings. I am expecting that people will identify with the foundation and we will make the community better.”

Responding on behalf of the governor, the Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Omotosho appreciated the founder for deeming it necessary to recognize the efforts of the state government in providing dividends of democracy to Ekiti people.

Omotosho seized the opportunity to recount the achievements Governor Oyebanji in line with his shared prosperity mantra adding that he would continue to deliver purposeful leadership to the people of the state.

Her words: “Part of what Governor Oyebanji has achieved is the construction of the road from Omuo to Itapa and Ijelu. Even the residents of those areas did not expect it. If you observe closely, the issue of kidnapping has reduced significantly. One of the major reasons is the road projects.

“When some of our children were kidnapped along the Eporo road, I personally followed the governor to the scene. The road was in a terrible condition, which made such incidents possible. But when the governor began the Ise–Emure road project, he also extended it to Eporo. Today, that road is in excellent condition. Although some people complained that city roads should have been prioritized over the Eporo road, the reality is that since the road was completed, we have enjoyed peace of mind—there has been no case of kidnapping there.

“In addition, all the hidden bushes in those areas have been given out for cluster farming. These are just part of Governor Oyebanji’s strategic leadership. The work he is doing goes beyond the noise and criticisms.

“Among all governors in Nigeria, Governor Oyebanji is the first to implement the minimum wage. For this reason, no civil servant can truthfully speak against him. He has paid off inherited debts and is clearing all arrears. Governor Oyebanji is not a noise maker—he works with results.”

The DG eulogized Ajila-Jakande for her philanthropic works saying: “in politics, there are people who make you tired of the system, but there are also people whose determination inspires you. She is not doing politics for show-off, but for humanity.

“You are a pride to us in Ado-Ekiti. We learn from you—not just from your leadership but also from your humility, humanity, and kindness. I pray that God will elevate you politically and grant your heart’s desires. We deeply cherish all that you are doing for us.”
