
…as Bureau of Community Communications continues end-of-year grassroots engagement
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji has empowered People With Disabilities, PWDs, with cash gifts and food items to enhance their livelihoods ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The beneficiaries, drawn from the 16 local governments, under the aegis of Ekiti PWD Political Family, received the items on Friday in Ado-Ekiti, during the End-of-Year Grassroots Engagement program organised by the Bureau of Community Communications.

In her address, Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Omotosho appreciated the PWDs for standing behind the administration of Governor Oyebanji despite being physically challenged.
She emphasised that the initiative is in tandem with the governor’s continued commitment to the welfare of PWDs and urged them to reciprocate the gesture during the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
Her words: “I want to congratulate us for witnessing yet another festive season. What we are doing is just to show appreciation for your cooperation, understanding, support and love for Governor Oyebanji at all times.
“You have not limited yourself by virtue of your condition. You have proven to us that even with your condition, you can do what able-bodied people can do for Governor Oyebanji and you are even doing more.
“We are all witnessing the tremendous support from the governor to PWDs. When it’s time, you will extend that support to him. Our engagement is not limited to electioneering period alone. He builds relationship with people beyond political family and extended it to everybody in the society. Governor Oyebanji has successfully shared very strong bond with Ekiti people.”

On his part, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Disability Matters, Obamise Akin commended the governor for prioritising the welfare of PWDs describing it as the first of its kind in the history of Ekiti State.
He charged the PWDs to get their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the gubernatorial election stressing its importance towards the re-election of Governor Oyebanji for second term in office.
Peter Ojo, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, eulogised the governor for his tremendous support to PWDs, including athletes who represented the state at the National Sports Festival and National Youth Games.
