2026: Ekiti people are re-electing Oyebanji based on performance – Council Chairman

The Chairman of Ekiti South West local government, Hon. Richard Apolola has said that the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji is driven by his unprecedented performance in office.

Speaking during a monitored BAO Campaign Radio Programme on Wednesday, in Ado-Ekiti, the council chairman described the governor as a leader who governs with respect for values.

Apolola noted that the giant strides of Governor Oyebanji is visible across all sectors of the economy stressing that the governor has set the standard for others to follow.

His words: “Governor Biodun Oyebanji has remained level-headed in power. He leads with respect for values, not arrogance. For the first time, many people say they are voting based on performance, not ethnic or political sentiments.

“Under BAO, visible progress spans from the Ikere to Ilawe road and all the way to Erinjiyan, including the transformation of the Ilawe General Hospital in the community. In Ilawe, power supply has become noticeably more reliable. Residents now openly wonder how he is funding so many road projects at once.

“Beyond roads and hospitals, BAO personally oversaw the transformation of an elderly woman’s mud house into a modern, well-built home. It’s a practical example of a governor who remembers the vulnerable.

“Governor Oyebanji pays salaries as and when due—no election gimmicks, no delays. Just prompt, reliable pay. Bao sets the standard others only chase.

“When food scarcity hit, BAO didn’t blink. He rolled out the tractorization scheme, delivered quality seedlings for youths for clearing their lands with ease and pumped cash into farming via the Bring Back Youths In Agriculture (BBYA) program. This has produced food on the table with hope in the field.”
