Ekiti State Okada Riders Association and Tricycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (TORAN) have thrown their weight behind the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji,
saying continuity in leadership is essential to sustain Ekiti’s progress.
In a show of solidarity with colourful banners, the associations made its stance clear on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti during Governor Oyebanji’s stakeholders engagement and strategic interaction for his re-election campaign.
Kunle Ashaolu, State Chairman of Ekiti State Okada Riders Association said the decision to endorse Governor Oyebanji stems from a series of positive changes and policies that have benefited its members, particularly on road infrastructure.
He noted that since the inception of the administration of Governor Oyebanji, the state has witnessed relative peace among the transport unions and associations in the state while pledging to embark on an aggressive grassroots campaign for his re-election.
His counterpart from TORAN, Akinola Talabi stated that the governor should be allowed to serve another term to consolidate the gains of his administration and complete the remarkable strides.
He commended the governor’s commitment to the welfare of Ekiti residents, especially the transporters, adding that he has delivered on all his campaign promises to the people.
According to him, “We will come out massively to vote for him. We want continuity in government and we can see the positive changes and progress in road construction, and many others.”
Addressing the mammoth crowd, Governor Oyebanji commended them for maintaining peace and order in the state saying that “the state is peaceful today because the okada riders, tricycle owners and the drivers are at peace with each other.”
The governor reiterated the significance of the forthcoming poll stressing that a vote for the All Progressives Congress is a vote for President Bola Tinubu who has prioritised the interest of Ekiti State in his Renewed Hope agenda.
“June 20 is important to us for some reasons. The first reason is that all these good works you mentioned can continue. The second reason is that we have a President that has been so good to us. Ekiti State is 29 years and there has been no President that has been this good to us.
“So, a President that has been so good to us also deserves to be encouraged. The only way you can encourage is to come out on June 20 and cast your votes for his party.”
