2026 Guber: Ekiti APC Leadership Concludes LG Tour With Critical Stakeholders

The leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State has met with critical stakeholders of the party across the 16 local governments ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Speaking with newsmen during the conclusion of the tour at the Ado Ekiti APC office in Odo Ado ,Ado-Ekiti, on Friday, the state party Chairman, Sola Elesin said the meeting is aimed at sensitizing the stakeholders about the released timetable and schedule of activities for the Ekiti state governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Recall that the electoral umpire had scheduled 20 June 2026 for the governorship election while setting the period between 20 October and 10 November 2025 for political parties to conduct primaries to select their candidates.

Elesin emphasized that the stakeholders engagement is to ensure that the party is coordinated ahead of the governorship election while cautioning individuals and groups against creating division in the party.

He said: “We are here to sensitize our people about the release of the INEC timetable and the need for us to have cohesion in our party. We realized that some descendents are now in our party holding nocturnal meetings which is not approved by the party.

“I want to emphasize this to our people that they should remain steadfast. They should not do anything that will disturb the peace we are enjoying in Ekiti State and we want stability in the party.”

A chieftain of the party and Special Adviser on Political and Inter-party Affairs to the Governor of Ekiti State, Jide Awe reiterated the need for the party members to intensify preparations for the 2026 governorship election as strong and formidable party in the state and the country at large.

According to him, “It’s not only in Ado-Ekiti but across the 16 LGAs to sensitize and to let them realize that INEC timetable is out and we have to work towards it. A strong party like APC in Ekiti State and even in Nigeria, needs to be meeting the people regularly to be able to put them on their toes.

“We are not working only towards the election but we work everyday so that when election comes, we will not be taken unawares. Our mission to move round the state is to see how well prepared our party members are in their various locations and we are happy. We met them, we discussed and they assured us that anytime, any day, our party people is ready.”

On his part, Secretary of BAO/MCA State Endorsement Committee, Rt. Hon. Karounwi Oladapo said the committee will organize an unparallel and unique state-wide confirmation of the will of the people in the state for the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

His words: “We are looking forward to the state-wide endorsement of BAO and MCA for second term in office. The critical stakeholders have set-up various committees and what we are saying is that we are organizing unparallel, unique and first of its kind endorsement that the crowd we will mobilize to Ado-Ekiti will be one of its kind in Ekiti State.”

In the same vein, the APC Chairman in Ado local government, Mike Akinleye pledged to go back to their various wards in the area and sensitize the party members ahead of the party’s governorship primaries.

He reiterated that the local government is solidly behind the re-election of Governor Oyebanji saying that the local government will mobilize its members for the grand state-wide endorsement.

The engagement had in attendance strategic party actors drawn from every ward of the local government including; Secretary to the State Government, Habibat Adubiaro, Deputy Speaker, Ekiti State House Of Assembly, Olagbaju Bolaji, APC State Women Leader, Cecilia Eegunlusi, Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Omotosho, Chairmen of Ado local government and Ado West LCDA, Bosun Osaloni and Bolu Aladesanmi, respectively, political appointees, councilors, among others.
