The first elected governor of Ekiti State, Niyi Adebayo, has praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his outstanding achievements and developmental milestones in Ekiti State.
On Friday, the highly revered leader, commissioned the 19.5km Ikole-Ara-Isinbode road, as part of activities marking the 3rd anniversary of Governor Oyebanji’s administration in office.
At the commissioning, the former governor showered encomium on Governor Oyebanji for fulfilling his age-long vision of strengthening infrastructure and enhancing rural connectivity across the communities and declared his unalloyed support for his re-election in the forthcoming 2026 governorship election.

The former governor said: “I am very very proud of this administration and I stand before you to tell you that as long as I live, I will continue to support them. I urge each and everyone of you to get your PVCs for BAO’s re-election.”
In his address, Governor Oyebanji thanked the former governor for honouring the invitation to commission the project describing him as a visionary leader who laid a solid foundation for his administration to build on.
Governor Oyebanji declared that the project stands as a testament to one of the visions of the former governor and also in fulfillment of his campaign promises to the people of the area and Ekiti State in general.

While thanking him for his mentorship and unwavering support, he called on residents of the communities to take ownership of the project for its lasting benefits to ease transportation for farmers, traders, etc, ascribing the monumental feat to President Bola Tinubu’s reforms and policies in the country.
His words: “When I ran for the governorship in 2022, Kabiyesi at Ayede came to see Kabiyesi Alara and he said I don’t know you and I am not a politician but I will plead with my people to vote for you on one condition – promise me that you will do Ikole-Ara-Isinbode road. I didn’t know where the money will come from and I said yes.
“So, when we got into office, we started this road and got a competent contractor in Dromo. We thank God that finally the vision of Otunba and his desire to get this road has been done and that’s why I specifically invited him to come and commission this road.
“We thank the President whose reforms and policies made money available to those of us at the state level. Let us take ownership of the project. Under this administration, we attracted the federal medical centre. As far as I am concerned, I have fulfilled my promise to Ikole people. By and large, we are not doing badly in respect to our promises to our people.”

Earlier, the Alaaye of Oke-Ayedun, Oba Olufemi Aribisala, who represented the Elekole of Ikole, Oba Adewumi Fasiku, appreciated the governor for his timely intervention saying that the project will uplift the living conditions of the people, and significantly reduce travel time for residents, commuters, and businesses.
