Teachers Recruitment: Ekiti Govt Assures Transparent Exercise

…says process strictly CBT, community-based

The Ekiti State Government has promised to recruit teachers in its primary schools in a fair and transparent manner.

The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Femi Akinwumi assured that all applicants would be treated equally.

The SUBEB Chairman stated this on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti during the interactive S’etigbo multicast, anchored by the Bureau of Community Communications.

Akinwumi, who revealed that the target is to recruit 1,500 teachers into the state primary and basic schools, explained that the process will be strictly CBT and community-based towards improving learning outcomes in the state, particularly at the grassroots level.

His words: “I believe in transparency and honesty because that’s the watchword of Governor Biodun Oyebanji. Even aside that, I am a man of a very pure heart. I don’t want anything that will even mar my reputation.

“I want to assure Ekiti people that what we are going to do will be transparent enough and no hanky-panky. It is going to be known to the world because we are going to conduct it via CBT. We are assuring the public it will be transparent enough.

“When we are talking about recruiting additional teachers, it’s all about improving the learning and teaching process in schools and the quality of education. When we have sufficient teachers, they will be able to take care of our pupils and the pupils are our future.

“The application for the recruitment is conducted online and community-based process because we want to recruit teachers into their own communities. They will sign an undertaking that they would be there for a period of five years before they can apply for any transfer.”

He said that Ekiti SUBEB has continued to rank among the leading basic education boards in the country, attributing the feat to the state’s consistent payment of counterpart funds and sustained investment in basic education.

The SUBEB boss expressed confidence that continued government investment in public schools would further strengthen basic education in Ekiti State and make government-owned schools the preferred choice for parents.
