Don’t compromise on quality, food safety regulations – Oyebanji to Ekiti Caterers

Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has called on caterers in the state not to compromise on quality and food safety regulations.

Governor Oyebanji, represented by the Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Omotosho, stated this on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti at the Ekiti State Caterers’ Association Day & Workshop, themed ‘Beyond the Plate.’

The governor, who urged them not to prioritised financial gain over adherence to food safety and hygiene measures for the well-being of Ekiti residents, reaffirmed the commitment of his administration in providing a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

“Make sure you put in your best because tomorrow you don’t know who is coming to taste that food. As caterers that you are, don’t compromise on quality. The works of your hands is your identity and signature that will attract people to you.

“You have shown experience as creatives caterers especially in Ekiti here. Make sure you leave a lasting impression and make good use of social media to showcase your works.”

He appreciated them for standing solidly behind his re-election assuring that his administration would continue to partner with the association in the second term.

“I appreciate you for showing to the world that there is dignity in labour. The innovation that you have brought into catering is making it attractive and that is one achievements all of you should be proud of.

“As for us in government, I want to thank you for your partnership and the support you gave to Governor Oyebanji. I want to thank you for coming out enmass to vote for Governor Oyebanji. The second term we are going into in October, you all made it happen and we thank you so sincerely. I want to tell you that more than the relationship that we had in the first term, we are going to build on it in the second term.”

Earlier in her welcome address, President of the association, Stella Akinola said the event is “a celebration of skill, of sacrifice, of sleepless nights, and of the joy we serve, one plate at a time” adding that the theme is centred on recognising the diligence and commitment of caterers.

According to her, “beyond the plate is the story behind every meal. It is the mother who wakes at 3am to prep for 500 guests. It is the team that turns pressure into presentation. It is the calm smile you give a client when the timeline shifts again. It is the memory you create the taste that reminds someone of home, of celebration, of love.

“We are not just food vendors, we are experience curators, we are mood setters, we are problem solvers, designers, logistics experts, and storytellers.

“To our partners, vendors, and clients here today thank you for seeing us “beyond the plate. Thank you for valuing the craft, not just the cost. To my fellow caterers – I see you. I honor you. The long hours, the last-minute orders, the art in every garnish. You are the reason tables feel like home.”
