The Ekiti State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Saturday, conducted a peaceful House of Representatives primary election in Ado-Ekiti Ward 9.

The exercise attracted eligible members of the party including party stalwarts, who trooped out in their numbers to elect their candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.

At the end of the primary election, the lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1, Olusola Fatoba secured a landslide victory with 933 votes to defeat his opponents.

Announcing the result after adopting the option A4 and by simple majority as stipulated by the party, the Ward Presiding Officer, David Taiwo, commended the members of Ward 9 for conducting themselves in a civil manner during the exercise.

In separate interviews with newsmen, some party stalwarts in Ward 9 said their choices of candidate is to align and respect the decision of the party leadership declaring that the party’s supremacy is sacrosanct.

According to the Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Omotosho, “Ward 9 aligns with the party’s supremacy and decision of the party. The party owns all of us and where the party is going, that’s where we are all going. We are law abiding and reliable members in Ward 9.”

Ibitoye Sunday said the choice of Fatoba reflects “democracy in action and nobody denied anyone the opportunity to line up for the candidate of their choice. We lined up to cast for our preferred candidate who is the choice of the people.”

The hitch-free primary election was conducted in an orderly manner in the presence of INEC officials, who monitored the exercise and security agents that maintained law and order.
