ZLP Governorship Candidate Congratulates Oyebanji on Historic Re-election Victory

The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) governorship candidate in the just-concluded Ekiti State governorship election, Adetunji Victor Damilola, has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his overwhelming victory at the polls.

In a congratulatory message released after the declaration of the election results, Damilola described Oyebanji as a “Jinx Breaker” and commended the governor for earning a renewed mandate from the people of Ekiti State.

According to the ZLP candidate, the governor’s victory was a reflection of the impact of his administration and the confidence reposed in him by the electorate.

“Your victory at the poll is not a mistake, but a result of the good work in your current administration,” Damilola stated.

Governor Oyebanji was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after polling 319,224 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede, who secured 40,543 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Dare Bejide, garnered 12,872 votes. The governor also recorded victories across all 16 local government areas of the state.

The congratulatory message, accompanied by a campaign poster celebrating the governor’s return for a second term, adds to the growing list of goodwill messages from political actors and stakeholders following the election.

Damilola’s gesture is an act of sportsmanship that reinforces democratic values and peaceful political engagement in Ekiti State.

With a margin of over 278,000 votes between Governor Oyebanji and his nearest rival, the election result ranks among the most decisive governorship victories recorded in the state’s democratic history, reflecting the broad-based support enjoyed by the incumbent across the state.
