2026: My performance will earn me second term – Oyebanji boasts

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Monday, said his performance in office will earn him a second term in office.

Speaking at the statewide grassroots engagement for his re-election campaign in Ijero local government, Oyebanji noted that his administration has performed creditably well to deserve another term.

According to the governor, “If performance is a yardstick for electoral success, we have nothing to fear. You have seen what we have done in Ekiti State in respect to infrastructure, health, education, salary payment, pension.

“You are living witnesses to the fact that in the last three years and seven months, no workers have gone on strike in Ekiti State. All these things we have achieved is to the glory of God and the support of President Bola Tinubu.”

He urged electorates in Ijero local government to go all out and mobilise voters towards achieving the 500,000 target stressing its importance ahead of the 2027 general election.

“We are expecting a minimum of 500,000 votes on election day. I therefore urge everyone to conduct this campaign peacefully.

“We are law-abiding citizens, and there must be no room for violence or the use of foul language throughout this process. Our commitment is to peace and progress in Ekiti State.”

Earlier, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Governorship Campaign Council in the state, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele appreciated the people of the area for their show of support while highlighting the various achievements of the governor.

He said: “On behalf of the Campaign Council, we express our sincere gratitude for your continued support. We are here simply to say thank you for your commitment to Governor Oyebanji, and by God’s grace, you will not regret it.

“In the last few years, new roads have been constructed, healthcare services have been strengthened, peace has been sustained, and a strong sense of unity of purpose, programme, and development now defines Ekiti State.

“Compared to any administration before him, God has used BAO to deepen peace and drive progress across the state, and yet, we are still moving forward to greater heights.”

In their separate remarks, representatives of the political leadership, youth and women groups pledged to embark on an aggressive grassroots campaign and commended the governor’s giant strides in Ijero and across the state.

According to the Director General, City Boy Movement, Asiwaju Kasali, “In the past three and half years, the governor has redefined governance in the state. Ekiti people will not deviate from the journey of stability and uninterrupted progress.”

On her part, Hon. Wunmi Ogunlola noted that “In Ijero local government, the governor has done so much for us. He upgraded the school of health technology in Ijero to polytechnic. He renovated all the health centres in the local government and got them equipped. In terms of employment, Ijero local government has never had it so much under any administration like this.”

A former Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Dapo Kolawole announced the donation of N10m on behalf of Iloro Development Union to support the governor’s re-election campaign.
