The Olomuooke of Omuooke Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Otitoju, political heavyweights and well-meaning residents of Ekiti East local government have thrown their weight behind the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
They made the pledge in Omuo-Ekiti, on Thursday, at the statewide grassroots engagement of Governor Oyebanji ahead of the June 20 gubernatorial election in the state.
The revered monarch described Governor Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye as agents of peace noting that since the inception of his administration, the people of Ekiti East have enjoyed peace and development.
According to him, “Since the inception of this government I have not heard of any violence. This is because the governor and his deputy are man and woman of peace. We are solidly behind you. For the people’s welfare, you have done extremely well.”
In the same vein, a former Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Abiodun Olujimi assured that they will deliver massive votes for the governor’s re-election.
Corroborating the former senator is a serving lawmaker in the House of Representatives, Femi Bamisile, who declared that the people of the area are solidly behind the governor owing to his giant strides in Ekiti East.
His words: “Governor Oyebanji has done well in Ekiti East LGA and all monarchs have appreciated him. We will support and deliver Ekiti East for the APC. We have already adopted the Governor in Ekiti East LGA, so there is no need for canvassing here.”
Also, a former council chairman in Ekiti East, Ogundana Sikiru stated that the people of the area have embarked on an aggressive grassroots campaign describing the governor as a marketable product.
Reacting, Governor Oyebanji said his administration has delivered on their campaign promises to Ekiti East residents while urging them to reciprocate the gesture in both the forthcoming guber poll and the 2027 general election for President Bola Tinubu.
He said: “When we came here in 2022, we promised to restore the electricity that had not worked for more than ten years, and today, we have fulfilled that promise. Kabiyesi has also informed us of other areas where electricity should be extended to, and we will get it done.
“About three and a half years ago, we came here to seek your votes and you did not fail us. Since the creation of Ekiti State, there has been no President that has been as fair, supportive and good to us as President Tinubu.
“That is why we must let the whole world know, through the June 20 election, that the President has done well. We must show it with our votes.”
