Security agents commend peaceful conduct of Ekiti guber election

Some security agents deployed during the just concluded 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State have commended the peaceful conduct of the election.

The security agencies, who served as
multi-stakeholders during the election were saddled with the responsibility to secure personnel and materials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, protect voters, observers, the media as well as the polling and collation agents representing the political parties and candidates.

Speaking on condition of anonymity shortly after the declaration of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Governor Biodun Oyebanji as winner of the poll, a security agent said the exercise was devoid of violence.

The security agent eulogised Ekiti electorates for conducting themselves in a civil and orderly manner, stressing that the peaceful atmosphere in the state during the poll is unprecedented.

“Security agencies did not even stress themselves during this election. I was with mobile policemen deployed from outside the state yesterday (Saturday) at the INEC headquarters. They said they haven’t witnessed the kind of relative peace they found in Ekiti during the election.”

Recall that during the local government campaign tour and stakeholder meeting with bodies and associations, Governor Oyebanji reemphasised that his ambition doesn’t worth the blood of any Ekiti indigene.

In the same vein, the Nigeria Police Force equally hailed the peaceful conduct of the election in the state, describing the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and largely devoid of major security incidents.

In a post on its official X handle, the police said, “The Nigeria Police Force appreciates the people of Ekiti State for their cooperation, peaceful conduct, and commitment to democracy throughout the electoral process.

“We also commend election officials, stakeholders, and security personnel whose efforts contributed to maintaining peace and public order. Thank you for choosing peace.”
